Bonn, Germany – Garden Centers of America (GCA) has been selected to serve as the U.S. representative of the International Garden Centre Association (IGCA), an independent not-for-profit organization dedicated to the continuous improvement of the garden center industry worldwide. GCA was selected over OFA, which also presented a bid for the U.S. representative position. The decision to name GCA as IGCA’s U.S. representative followed an in-person presentation to the IGCA Board in Bonn, Germany, by GCA Chairman Jeff Morey, who outlined the opportunities for both parties in the partnership.

“The [IGCA] board is confident that GCA will be able to help promote the IGCA to its members and contribute to the IGCA, ensuring continued success of the independent garden center industry worldwide,” says Nick Stodel, IGCA President and Managing Director of Stodels Garden Centres in the Western Cape of South Africa.

“GCA is looking forward to promoting the many benefits IGCA has to offer at next summer’s IGC Show, where the association will be on hand to sign up memberships and answer questions at a booth on the trade show floor,” says Morey.

Next fall, IGCA will present its annual International Garden Centre Congress, October 6-11, 2013, in Melbourne, Australia, featuring guided tours of the best garden centers in the area. Special events planned for the event include organized dinners and an afternoon tea at the Government House, as well as a visit to the National Sports Museum at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. GCA members will enjoy discounted rates to the congress garden center tour event.

IGCA is dedicated to supporting national garden center associations and their members by providing the forums to promote business and networking opportunities. It offers a strong network of information, resources and programs to bring sustained prosperity for garden center members. For more information, visit www.intgardencentre.org.
